JiveTalk for BlackBerry: Preferences
Use the preferences screen to configure JiveTalk to your desired settings. To open the preferences screen, select "Preferences" menu item from either the buddy list screen or any chat screen.

Auto Login On Start:
If checked, JiveTalk will automatically run "Login All" when you start up the application. This will try to log in to all accounts that have the "Include In Login All" box checked.

Login With Last Status:
If checked, JiveTalk will automatically set your status after login to the last known online status for the account. When unchecked, your initial status after login will be "Available".

This setting does not override the "Login Invisible" setting on account properties.

Buddy List Grouping:
"None" to not use any groups in the buddy list, "Groups" to organize the buddy list by groups, "Accounts" to organize the buddy list by logged in accounts.

Offline Buddies:
"Hide" to hide all offline buddies not involved in an open chat, "Show" to show all offline buddies, or "Group" to group all offline buddies in an "Offline" group at the bottom of the buddy list.

Sort Buddy List By Status:
If checked, JiveTalk will sort your buddies, in either group view or "group none" view, by availability status. Available is listed above away, followed by busy, then offline. If unchecked, buddies will be sorted alphabetically.

Show Empty Groups:
If checked, groups that have no visible members will be displayed on the buddy list when the buddy list is in Group view (see "Buddy List Grouping" below). If unchecked, empty groups will be hidden from view.

Enabled Buddy Icons:
(4.2 OS and above only, MSN & AIM accounts only) If checked, the application will attempt to load buddy icons. If unchecked, buddy icon updates will be ignored. See the buddy icons section for more information.

Chat Style:
The chat style controls how messages in the chat screen are formated and displayed. There are currently 7 chat styles to choose from: Classic, Ping Poing, Alternating Colors, Old School, Bubbles, Simple Lins, and Ping Pong Lines.

Display Timestamp in Chats:
If checked, the local device time will be displayed for messages in the chat window. A date line will also be added when there is a date change between messages.

Display My Handle in Chats:
If checked, your outgoing message will appear under your account's username. If unchecked, they will appear under "Me".

Display Buddy Status Change in Chats: If checked, a status change message will be appended to the chat screen each time the buddy's status changes.

Display Emoticons in Chats:
If checked, JiveTalk will display graphical images for emoticons (smileys). If unchecked, the raw text representations will be shown instead.

Use Service-Specific Emoticons Picker:
If checked, the emoticon picker will only display emoticons that work for the current service you're chatting in. If unchecked, the emoticon picker will display all available emoticons in JiveTalk, with the ones potentially not recognized by the current service displayed in italics.

Enable Alt-Alt Chat Switch:
If checked, rapidly typing the "Alt" key twice inside the chat screen will trigger the quick switch mode, where you can jump to a numbered chat or go to the last chat. If unchecked, typing Alt-Alt will be ignored. See keyboard shortcuts for more information on Alt-Alt quick switch.

Enabled Alert Profile For Sent IM:
If checked, an Alert Profile for "JiveTalk - Sound for Sent IM" will be added to the BlackBerry Alert Profiles. You can use this profile to configure a sound (or vibrate/LED) each time a message is sent to mimick the experience on many desktop IM clients. This option is disabled unchecked by default.

Enable Chat Logging:
If checked, all chat contents will be saved locally in device flash memory, available for later viewing. See the chat history section for more information on chat logging.

Auto Away When Holstered:
If checked, JiveTalk will automatically set your status to "Away" each time you place your BlackBerry in the holster, and reset your status back to the pre-holstered status when you take it out of the holster. If unchecked, no automatic action will take place when you holster your BlackBerry.

Auto Away When Idle:
If checked, JiveTalk will automatically set your status to "Away" when there application enters an idle state. The application enters an idle state when there are no keypress or trackball/trackwheel events for x minutes as specified in the "Minutes Till Idle" setting listed below. The application will reset your status back to your pre-idle status as soon as a keypress or trackball/trackwheel event is detected.

Minutes Till Idle:
This setting control the amount of time on inactivity (keyboard or trackwheel/trackball movement) that must pass before the application is considered "idle". The idle state is used for the "Auto Away When Idle" setting. It is also used to determines when the battery saver mode kicks in (if enabled), and what kind of alert an incoming instant message will trigger.

Auto Away Message:
This is a free-form text field that allows you to enter a custom away message for when Auto-Away is enabled. This away message is used for both holstered and idle auto away.

Popup Alert in Background Mode:
If checked, a popup dialog will be displayed when a new instant messages comes in while the application is in the background.

Enable New Version Alert:
If checked, a popup dialog will be displayed when a new version of the application is availabe for download.

Display Clock on Title Bar:
If checked, the current time will be displayed on the Title Bar on both the buddy list screen and any chat screen. The time will be displayed in 12 hr format (hh:mm AM/PM).

Battery Save Mode When Idle:
If checked, the application will try to minimize radio usage while the application is in background or idle. JiveTalk for BlackBerry must use the radio to periodically check that the connection to the server is still valid. When Battery Saver mode is on, these checks will be less frequent in order to conserve battery.

Enable Message Encryption:
If checked, the application will encrypt all data transmission between the device and the JiveTalk server. If unchecked, only login requests will be encrypted.

Transport:
This setting controls the BlackBerry transport method JiveTalk uses to connect to internet. See the network section for more information about the available transport methods. Use the Network Auto Config wizard to automatically detect the best transport method to use.

Advanced Connection Parameters:
This internal JiveTalk field is used to configure the connection that JiveTalk uses to connect to the JiveTalk server. Use the Network Auto Config wizard to automatically detect the best network setting.
